Hillary Clinton unleashed her first big verbal barrage on Donald Trump Thursday, using a speech in California to argue that electing Trump this November would be a “historic mistake,” as she said Trump was too unpredictable to be put in charge of U.S. nuclear weapons, while Trump said Clinton’s attacks were “hate speech.”
“Donald Trump’s ideas aren’t just different, they are dangerously incoherent. They’re not even really ideas – just a series of bizarre rants, personal feuds, and outright lies,” Clinton said at a rally in San Diego.
Clinton strung together a number of attack lines on Trump – making the bottom line that Trump is unfit for the office of President.
“This is not someone who should ever have the nuclear codes,” Clinton said, “because it’s not hard to imagine Donald Trump leading us into a war just because somebody got under his very thin skin.”
Supporters of Clinton were cheered by her tough words.
“It is clear she is prepared to give at least as good as she gets in dealing with Trump,” said Geoff Garin, who was a top campaign strategist for Clinton in 2008.
2/3 @HillaryClinton won't let Trump set the terms of the debate. She is ready, willing, and able to take it to him on her own terms.

Clinton wove into her criticism of Trump a number of specific policy attacks, ridiculing what she says are naive stances on foreign affairs.
“This is someone who has threatened to abandon our allies in NATO, the countries that work with us to root out terrorists abroad before they strike us at home,” Clinton said.
While the policies are important, some Democrats said there was a more important goal.
“What i found in interesting about her “foreign policy” speech today is that it seemed less about the policy and more about making it clear to Trump that she was prepared to hit him hard where it counts – his lack of experience,” said Jim Manley, a veteran Democratic strategist.
What was notable about Trump’s reaction was that it had nothing to do with policy or any differences that he may have with Clinton on foreign matters – as Trump focused on style and performance.
Bad performance by Crooked Hillary Clinton! Reading poorly from the telepromter! She doesn't even look presidential!
