  • 10:45 pm Wednesday, August 31st, 2016 by Jamie Dupree

Hours after meeting with the President of Mexico, Donald Trump told a cheering campaign rally in Phoenix, Arizona that he would go forward with his plans to build a wall along the southern border, vowing if elected, to immediately remove criminal illegal aliens and force others to go back to their home country.

“We will break the cycle of amnesty and illegal immigration,” Trump said to cheers, as he declared, “There will be no amnesty.”

“You cannot obtain legal status or become a citizen of the United States by illegally entering our country,” Trump added.

Trump meets with Mexican President

  • 4:49 pm Wednesday, August 31st, 2016 by Jamie Dupree

Hours before giving a speech on immigration in Arizona, Donald Trump flew to Mexico City to meet with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, as Trump demanded that Mexico and the United States work together on trade, drugs, immigration and more.

Both men used an opening statement to reporters to frame the meeting from their own perspective, as the Mexican leader voiced his support for the NAFTA trade deal, and urged the U.S. to do more to stop weapons and money from flowing to drug cartels in Mexico.

“Mr. Trump and I had an open and constructive discussion,” Pena Nieto said, as Trump [More]

Clinton chides Trump on leadership, immigration

  • 1:43 pm Wednesday, August 31st, 2016 by Jamie Dupree

In a speech to an American Legion convention in Cincinnati, Ohio, Hillary Clinton on Wednesday again questioned Donald Trump’s temperament as a reason to oppose his bid for President, as Clinton argued Trump would undermine American foreign policy alliances and the overall security of the U.S.

“American leadership means bringing the world together,” Clinton said in her speech, as she denounced Trump for threatening to walk away from NATO, labeling that ‘wrong’ and ‘dangerous.’

“American leadership means standing with our allies,” Clinton said, “Because our network of allies is part of what makes us exceptional.”

Trump to visit Mexico before immigration speech

  • 11:53 pm Tuesday, August 30th, 2016 by Jamie Dupree

In a surprise development, Donald Trump announced on Tuesday night that he would be visiting Mexico on Wednesday to meet with that country’s President, just hours before Trump is set to give a much anticipated speech in Arizona to set out his plans to deal illegal immigration into the U.S.

The news of Trump’s surprise visit to Mexico broke just as he took the stage in Everett, Washington for a campaign rally – but unlike most every appearance he has made in this election, Trump said almost nothing about immigration last night, never mentioning the wall that he so often says [More]

Indicted Democrat bounced from Congress

  • 9:24 pm Tuesday, August 30th, 2016 by Jamie Dupree

For the second time this election year, Democratic primary voters have defeated a veteran black member of Congress who had been hit with corruption charges, as voters on Tuesday rejected the re-election bid of Rep. Corrine Brown (D-FL), making her the fifth U.S.House incumbent to be defeated in 2016.

Brown was indicted in July on federal charges that she funneled money supposedly raised for an education fund to her own personal use; the 12 term lawmaker joins ex-Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-PA) in being defeated this year under an ethical cloud.

Fattah resigned his seat in Congress after he was found guilty; that [More]

  • 4:00 pm Tuesday, August 30th, 2016 by Jamie Dupree

As part of a lawsuit by the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch, Hillary Clinton was given 25 questions today to answer within 30 days about her use of a private email server while Secretary of State, with the responses considered to be under oath.

“These are simple questions about her email system that we hope will finally result in straight-forward answers, under oath, from Hillary Clinton,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton in a written statement.

Instead of a videotaped deposition in this matter, a federal judge ordered Clinton to answer no more than 25 questions – here is what Judicial Watch [More]

Trump heads to Pacific Northwest

  • 12:13 pm Tuesday, August 30th, 2016 by Jamie Dupree

Donald Trump is making an election stop on Tuesday evening that some might consider a bit of a long shot, as he will raise money and hold a rally in Washington, a state that has not gone for Republicans in the race for President since Ronald Reagan in 1984.

While some pundits labeled the trip a ‘waste of time,’ Trump wasn’t hearing any of that, as 13,000 tickets were handed out for this evening’s gathering.

For those not familiar with the political geography of the Evergree State, it is a tale of two areas – most of the eastern half of Washington [More]

McCain looks to defeat conservative challenge

  • 4:00 am Tuesday, August 30th, 2016 by Jamie Dupree

Despite a lot of talk about 2016 being the year of the outsider in the race for President, that call for dramatic change has not gone far in the Congress, and it again faces an uphill fight Tuesday in Arizona where Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is a strong favorite to win his party’s nomination in the face of opposition from some conservative Republicans.

McCain, who turned 80 on Monday, has long been viewed with suspicion by conservative elements within the GOP, but their efforts to boot him out of the Congress have failed before.

McCain’s main primary opponent, Kelli Ward, has tried [More]

Trump, Clinton roll out new TV ads

  • 4:46 pm Monday, August 29th, 2016 by Jamie Dupree

With Labor Day almost here – regarded by many as the ‘official’ start of the fall campaign for President – the campaigns of both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have rolled out new TV ads this week, both taking sharp jabs at the other.

Trump’s latest ad on the economy basically charges that Clinton will screw things up even more, while Trump would be an economic savior.

Clinton meanwhile is after Trump again on the outsourcing of jobs in the production of his line of clothing, as this ad follows on one that featured David Letterman giving Trump a hard time over [More]

Trump to revisit immigration this week

  • 9:38 pm Sunday, August 28th, 2016 by Jamie Dupree

After a week of at times confusing statements on whether he might shift his plans on how best to deal with illegal immigration, Donald Trump announced Sunday evening that he will be making a major speech this week on what has been one of his signature issues of the 2016 campaign.

In several different interviews, Trump last week sent some conflicting signals to supporters about whether he was going to modify some of his immigration plans:

+ Trump at one point embraced and at other times repudiated Obama Administration efforts on immigration

+ Trump said on Tuesday he was “softening” his immigration approach; [More]
